Meet Dr. Boyd

Rev. Dr. Miles Travis Boyd, Jr.

Rev. Dr. Miles Travis Boyd, Jr. is a native of Harlem, NY and the son of Miles Nelson Boyd, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Holmes. In 2011 Dr. Boyd graduated from Virginia Union University with a Bachelor of Arts in English. In August of 2011 he enrolled into Virginia Union University Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology where he graduated in 2014 with his Masters of Divinity. On August 30, 2021 Dr. Boyd graduated from Drew University with his Doctorate of Ministry Degree in Public Theology with a concentration in Social Justice.

Dr. Boyd is the founder of several non- profit organizations such as The Harlem's Ministers and Leadership Conference, 

M. Travis Boyd Ministries, the Elizabeth Holmes Scholarship Foundation and Project Take Shelter. The purpose and mission of these ministries is to help serve and become a prophetic beacon of hope, strength and justice to those who are in
need.

In 2011, Dr. Boyd was afforded the opportunity to serve as the Pastor of Youth and Young
Adults while simultaneously serving as Assistant to the Pastor at the Fourth Baptist Church in Richmond, VA. Where his mentor and father in the ministry Rev. Dr. Emory Berry, Jr. served as Senior Pastor. Upon his departure from Richmond, VA., Rev. Boyd moved back home to New York City where he served as the Minister of Christian Education at the Memorial Baptist Church in Harlem, NY. Dr. Boyd is currently a member of the Canaan Baptist Church of Christ in Harlem, NY serving as Associate Pastor where Rev. Dr. Thomas D. Johnson is the Senior Pastor. On November 10, 2013 Dr. Boyd was licensed into the preaching ministry and ordained into the Gospel Ministry on April 30, 2017.

Dr. Boyd continues to model his life after the scripture that he favors so much written by the poetic genius David. Where he says in the 34th poetic genre of Psalms." I will bless the Lord at all times, his praises shall continually be in my mouth."
